Transition Program

Our Transition Boost Program is an innovative initiative designed to empower adults with disabilities who have completed a secondary education program. Our program provides comprehensive training in community participation, independent living skills, and career development. Our program focuses on practical skills such as retail, packaging, customer service, basic cooking, hospitality, computer, office, and housekeeping/cleaning skills. This is achieved through classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and community-based partnerships.

Skill Development Modules:

  • Retail, Packaging, and Customer Service: Participants will learn the fundamentals of customer service, inventory management, packaging techniques, and retail operations through interactive sessions and practical exercises.

  • Cooking Basics: Basic cooking skills will be taught, emphasizing safety, nutrition, and meal planning. Participants will gain confidence in preparing simple, nutritious meals.

  • Hospitality Training: This module covers essential hospitality skills, including communication, customer interaction, and teamwork. Field trips to local hospitality establishments will enhance practical learning.

  • Computer and Office Skills: Participants will receive training in basic computer skills, office software usage, and internet navigation to enhance their proficiency in modern workplaces.

  • Housekeeping and Cleaning Skills: This module focuses on maintaining a clean and organized living or working environment, including proper cleaning techniques and time management.

Community-Based Partnerships:

  • Collaborations with local businesses and organizations will provide participants with real-world experiences and opportunities to apply their skills in different settings.

  • Guest speakers from the community will share insights and guide potential career paths, building a network of support for program participants.

Small Group Cohorts:

  • Each cohort will consist of 4-8 participants, allowing for personalized attention and fostering a supportive learning environment.

  • The small group size enables tailored instruction to address individual needs and encourages peer collaboration.

Schedule:

  • Cohort 1 (Tuesdays and Thursdays): 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

  • Cohort 2 (Thursdays and Fridays): 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM

  • These 2.5-hour sessions are held twice a week, and strike a balance between intensive learning and participant convenience.

Program Benefits:

  • Enhanced community participation and social integration.

  • Increased independence through the development of essential life and job skills.

  • Improved self-confidence and self-esteem.
